When this blog started, a man named Puryear started posting in the comments section.
He was young and had two small children, but still found the time to send out care packages to children with cancer and other illnesses. Puryear seemed very shaken up by the idea that someone had lied to so many people and caused so much misery.
He also offered insight into why Emily would possibly do something like this.
When the original group that had started this investigation into the JS Dirr hoax started a Facebook page, Puryear was one of the first to join. His profile identified him as Preacher James Puryear from Quincy, Massachusetts.
It soon became evident he was paranoid that someone would steal pictures of his twins.
People in the group started questioning his identity privately and asked me to take a look at his profile. I asked him to friend me on Facebook. I looked at his pictures. It was pretty obvious to me he was a biological female. I figured he was a female living as a male. There was even a female name on his Facebook and when I googled that, results showed a young female from Quincy, Massachusetts. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the name and it has now been removed from his profile.
He also had pictures of himself with a young boy who looked exactly like him. I figured he was a biological female that had given birth very young and was now living as a man. Sure, it was a little odd but I have friends with stranger stories and they’re very real people.
He posted a picture to reassure everyone he wasn’t Emily Dirr.
Puryear posted pictures of a new care package he was putting together for a young cancer patient.
Somehow, this young man with two children could afford to send out extremely elaborate gifts to sick kids.
Then, Puryear decided to write a full introduction for the group.
So, obviously, major questions arose and it became clear that this guy was lying. I messaged him and asked for a picture of his twins and him together.
He was removed from the group and forgotten immediately… until this story came across one of the group member’s Facebook pages.

Carissa Hads posing as “Puryear” didn’t add anything to the efforts to find the person behind “Warrior Eli.” She spent a lot of time slowly revealing her story and asking us how we discovered JS and Dana were fakes. It seems like Carissa Hads joined the group to test her story, find out how to fool someone without being detected and to further showcase her Puryear character.
Carissa Hads told her victim that “Puryear” had an aunt named Carissa Hads.
Makes you wonder if “Puryear’s” friend was named Carissa Hads.

Why did the Damn mom take her daughter to the hotel and then sit outside? She should be in jail too! There is no telling how man girls she has done this to! Some might not even have ever figured out she wasn’t a guy! I hope more people come forward.
I second that: Where are the charges against the mother? Personally, that actually disgusts me more than anything else.
What is this world coming to? We have a woman making up a whole family and playing it out for years. We have a woman pretending to be a Guy to be with underage girls. We have a Guy making up a story on national television about being wounded in war. We have “forest boy” who was all a lie. What the hell will be next? Oh wait, the other day a heart patient on my Facebook posted about a woman pretending to have a child died from a heart problem. This is completely insane. These people have too much free time. I barely have enough time for family, school (going back go college after dropping out in 99….proud of myself), chasing my girls (not twins….lol) around, and being my grandmother’s go to person all the time. These situations just don’t makes sense to me.

OMG!!! That Carissa lady is a total creep. What kind of sick person would pull such a stunt? Can you say total mental case? LOL! Losers like her need to get a life or hobby.
I have too agree, Emily was just loving the attention and got caught up in it, at least Emily was trying to help in her own way, with the lemonade stand and what not. But this freak takes it to a whole different level! That poor girl this woman raped and I bet they’re other girls that never even figured out he was a she! This actually is the first time I have ever heard of a woman doing something like this!!
By the way, how wild is that that you were JUST talking to her! I would be beyond skeeved.
Taryn, I don’t know how much of an investigative journalist you are “in real life” (I remember you mentioning that you were, or that you’d gone to school for it, or something – it’s all a blur now), but if it’s not your main source of income, it’s time for a career change.

I feel ill. And to think this person tried to beef up her legitimacy by glomming on to a hoax site.
